WCS - EV Charger Grant for Business

To accelerate the UK’s journey toward a net-zero future by 2050, the Office for Zero Emission Vehicles (OZEV) is offering financial support to help businesses install electric vehicle (EV) charging points. The Workplace Charging Scheme (WCS) is one of the key initiatives making EV adoption more accessible across the UK.

This comprehensive guide explains how the WCS grant works, who is eligible, and how your organisation can apply.

What is the Workplace Charging Scheme?

The WCS is a government-funded programme aimed at reducing the cost of purchasing and installing EV chargepoints at business premises. Through this scheme, eligible organisations can receive:

  • Up to 75% off the total cost per socket (Maximum of £350 per socket)

  • Support for up to 40 sockets per applicant

Note that the funding is applicable only for new chargepoints installed after the voucher is issued, and it must be claimed through an OZEV-authorised installer.

Is the Workplace Charging Scheme still available?

Yes, the Workplace Charging Scheme remains active and open to business applicants. However, organisations must act before March 2026, when the current funding window closes. With a potential claim of up to £14,000, this is a cost-saving opportunity not to be missed.
