At EML, we take pride in nurturing the next generation of skilled electricians, and Ryan Handley is a shining example of what dedication and enthusiasm can achieve.

Since joining us, Ryan has demonstrated a remarkable ability to learn and adapt. He has quickly developed a strong foundation of work-related knowledge and has successfully passed every college exam to date. Ryan considers his biggest achievements so far to be his academic success and the growing collection of tools he’s built to support his hands-on work.

On the Job Electrical Experience

As an apprentice at EML - specialists in industrial and commercial electrical contracting, Ryan is involved in a wide range of on-site projects. These include both large and small-scale electrical installations across manufacturing plants, warehouses, and business premises. His role is vital in ensuring that our clients’ electrical systems are safe, compliant, and efficient through regular maintenance and upgrades.

Ryan is also gaining experience in green technologies, including the installation of solar panels and EV charging points, an area of growing importance in our industry.

Specialist Electrical Services

One of his most notable recent accomplishments was the successful installation and commissioning of his first Building Management System (BMS) panel. This smart automation system controls key building functions such as HVAC, lighting, fire suppression, and security. Ryan was responsible for installing the hardware, setting up the network infrastructure, configuring the software, and conducting system testing. This is a significant milestone at this stage of his apprenticeship.

Through his work, Ryan has developed a solid understanding of electrical regulations, fault diagnosis, and system maintenance. His technical skills now include BMS wiring, electrical containment (trunking, basket, and tray), and general circuit wiring. His growing confidence allows him to work independently and reliably, often with minimal supervision.

What truly sets Ryan apart is his attitude. He consistently demonstrates the professionalism, teamwork, and problem-solving skills we value at EML. Despite being the youngest in the team, he sets a positive example for other apprentices - showing that age is no barrier to excellence. His work ethic and behaviour influence his peers in the best possible way, making him a role model within our apprenticeship programme.

We’re proud to have Ryan on the team and excited to see what he’ll achieve next.

Don't just take our word for it, see what Ryan's team members have to say:

“Ryan for his age is very mature apprentice who is always switched on and ready to help in whatever way he can. He is very keen to learn and always wants to get stuck into work and will never complain about a job given to him. His punctuality is always good, and I think that shows a lot about him as a person. I think he will become a very good electrician if he is given all the correct training and keeps the attitude he currently has.”

“Ryan is the nicest guy you will ever meet and will retain any information that you can throw at him. For a first year apprentice he is coming along in leaps and bounds. He has a natural ability for the electrical industry.”

“Ryan has shown maturity beyond his age and is a delight to have on the team. He shows enthusiasm every day and always has a positive attitude. He is a very highly thought of member of the team.”
